The ESEE Knives ESEE-4 is the longer, thicker wilderness model of the popular ESEE-3 tactical knife. With its 3/16" thickness, full flat grind, rounded pommel, Micarta handles and light weight, it can serve as a primary backpacking, camping and wilderness survival knife, or fitted to your modular system for duty carry in a tactical environment. Note: ESEE knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. ESEE Knives suggests using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-CLOTH.

ESEE-4 Sheath System

The ESEE-4 Sheath System was designed by Randall Adventure Training and field tested during its development phase. This unique system allows the user to carry the ESEE-4 in a formed Kydex sheath securely on a MOLLE platform in standard or inverted mode (when using the optional MOLLE back). The knife and sheath can also be carried using MOLLE locks (included). The paracord and cord lock can be used to fashion a belt loop by running the cord through the sheath attachment holes and securing with the cord lock. The paracord can also be used to lash the sheath to a pack.
The ESEE-4 is held in place by a friction fit in the Kydex sheath. The knife is easily removed by gripping the knife handle with the fingers, then pushing the thumb against the sheath. When used with the MOLLE back, the elastic butt cover and Velcro retention strap add additional security measures for jumping from aircraft or other extreme activities that may cause the knife to come loose from the sheath. The sheath system is fully ambidextrous in any carry mode. It can also be belt carried, drop-leg carried, or lashed.
A lot of thought went into this design, thus creating a compact package capable of survival uses, as well as military, law enforcement, and rescue duty. The sheath screws are made from brass, no metal snaps are used since they have a tendency to jam with dirt and grime, and the ballistic nylon will take just about anything you throw at it.
