The BENCHMADE GRIPTILIAN 550 has a 3.45" modified Sheepsfoot Blade made of satin finished 440C stainless steel. 440C is a high-chromium stainless steel with an excellent balance of good hardness and excellent corrosion resistance. 440C takes a nice edge and comes back fairly easy as well. An excellent value priced steel for its performance. Additionally, Benchmade has developed a process for heat-treating their blade steels which maximizes the steels' molecular structure for a custom toughness and superior performance. This plain edge blade sports an ambidextrous thumb hole for easy one-handed opening.
The Griptilian has a light-weight molded black molded Zytel handle with texturing for a sure grip and has a reversible clip for easy, secure carry.
The Griptilian also sports the Benchmade patented AXIS™ locking mechanism. The incredibly strong AXIS lock is completely ambidextrous and incredibly smooth. We have hands-on tested the opening and closing of the Benchmade Griptilians. They are indeed smooth, safe and everything they are advertised to be. They are also very comfortable in the hand and we look forward to future review testing with the Griptilians. So, get your own Grip!
