KERSHAW KNIVES
 1019 FIRE STARTER

$12.00

Fire is an essential part of any survival situation and, therefore, fire starter is an essential part of any survival or emergency pack.  Fire is necessary for heat and cooking as well as boiling suspect water, providing light, and creating peace of mind.  Fire is also the highlight of any campout!

The Kershaw Fire Starter KS1019 is the perfect camping tool. Its magnesium steel 1.75 inch striker ensures sparks fly with every hit. Weighing only 1.1 oz., this tool is perfect for your pocket, pack or key chain.  A must have for all emergency kits.

USE

  1.  Take a small quantity of DRY grass, wood shavings, or other flammable materials and build into a small pile.
  2.  While holding the Magnesium shaft close to the pile, draw the striker down the shaft at a right angle. This will produce hot sparks which will light any dry flammable material.
  3.  As the fire becomes established, build-up the pile with slightly larger material until the fire is at the desired size.

Two Wolves Tested:  We took the Kershaw fire starter outside to try it out.  Using gathered and shaved tinder, we set to making fire.  The Kershaw sent out amazing amounts of sparks.  We found it easy to use... so easy, we were able to teach our 10 year old girl to use it!

Key Features:

  1. Magnesium steel striker with handle and lanyard
  2. Good for approximately 3000 strikes
  3. Will ignite in rain or snow
  4. Works as a signaling device
  5. Produces a spark reaching a temperature of 3000ºC
  6. Excellent camping tool

Where did we get this idea?
The Master Himself:  WoodsMaster Ron Hood.

TwoWolvesTested:  If you have never tried it, the can openers on the Swiss Army Knives do work and are not hard to use.  Once again, we had our 10year old try it out after showing her only once.  She successfully mastered the can opener and the can of spagettios in short order.  Secondly, the saw blade really does work well too.  We all had a great time trying this one out.  As shown in the picture, I also did a quick whittle with the large locking blade just for grins; it was sharp and easy to handle.
