TWO WOLVES TESTED:
We took the Proteus hunting! Okay, I took the Proteus hunting. It had plenty of space for extra shells, skinning knife, bags, even a drink, energy bar and other emergency gear. It moved great with me, was well balanced and completely comfortable as I hiked to a hidey spot in a cedar thicket. That woodland camo Proteus is now my official outdoor pack. A khaki or black will be great for everyday use if I can just pick a color! The Maxpedition khaki has a chameleon quality that seems to blend into whatever color it is put next to... it may have been a better choice for hunting actually!
P.S. Two years later, my Maxpedition Proteus is still my favorite. It goes on day hikes and goes hunting these days. It also pulls double duty as my emergency go bag in my vehicle. It holds everything I need. My Nalgene bottle rides in a Maxpedition Mini-Rollypoly on the waist belt on one side with room for my M-2 and a sheathed fixed blade on the other and I am good to go whatever may come.
